NETFLIX MMA | Rousey vs. Carano Early Thoughts

In typical MMA fashion, a fight no one asked for is slated to take place 15 years after either fighter's prime.

Gina Carano needs to fight Ronda Rousey in order to get her life back in balance... and to launder her image.

That’s right… Ronda Rousey will fight Gina Carano on Netflix, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions.

My Initial Thoughts

Dana White can add another one to his failed superfights list. That makes two involving Ronda as well. She should have fought both Cyborg and Carano. Now he has neither under his belt.

I’m also not sure Dana White was ever truly interested in a fight like this at this stage. It would certainly make sense for a White House card. Gina Carano would likely appeal to Donald, and she would fit right into that manosphere crowd, given her alignment with right-wing MAGA politics.

Timing and Weight Concerns

This fight is happening far too late in their careers, and I’d be surprised if Carano makes weight. She has historically struggled to make weight, and the weigh-ins have often become the real spectacle. Carano is obviously attractive, so this could end up being one of the most watched weigh-ins and fights of 2026. That’s just my opinion, though. The UFC isn’t putting on anything particularly compelling right now.

My Interest Level

Personal interest rating: 1.5/5

I’m more curious about the potential trainwreck aspect. I expect Rousey to win, but honestly, I’m not sure what to anticipate. I’m more interested in what other MMA fights might be announced.

Since this seems to be nostalgia-driven matchmaking, I wouldn’t be surprised to see:

  • Vitor Belfort
  • Tyron Woodley
  • Anderson Silva (though he appears focused on boxing)
  • A Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva rematch

It’s a curious time in MMA.
